Kola Boofs autobiography beat out such luminaries as Barack Obama, Walter Mosley, Tavis Smiley and Manning Marable. Kam Williams called it the most brilliant deconstruction of black living conditions to be published in this era as well as the truly heartbreaking account of a terrible childhood.
The book details Kola Boofs being orphaned, her issues with mental illness and vaginal infibulation, her support for and participation in the SPLA and her affair with terrorist Osama Bin Laden, which has caused the talented authors story to be questioned and assailed by many. To comemorate Ms. Boof being chosen Best Book, Kam Williams undertook a newly published interview) with the author in which she discusses her life and Osama Bin Laden at length (see interview).

Born Naima Bint Harith in Omdurman, Sudan ()KOLA BOOF was adopted and raised by Black Americans in the Anacostia Park section of Washington, D.C. circa As an adult she returned to North Africa (via Israel) and became a teen fashion model.
Unfortunately just as Kola Boof was transforming herself into an impassioned Womanist-Feminist novelist, poet, television writer and social media commentator….her life was taken over in by terrorist Osama Bin Laden in Morocco. In the London Guardian outed Boof's connection to Osama Bin Laden thus causing the writer to become a pariah in the West. She has been roundly shunned by Western media ever since. The author claims she was targeted for Cointelpro-like harassment by various agencies of the U.S. government for no other reason than admitting the affair with Bin Laden.
Despite constant praise for her novels and poems (NY Times, Boston Globe, etc.); the author has been demonized, banned by key book stores and fired from her day job—Ghost head writer of the NBC/SONY daytime soap “Days of Our Lives” in

The Sexy Part of the Bible
Eternity's story is a young woman's coming-of-age tale, but it's anything but typical. The cover makes a comparison of Boof's writing to Toni Morrison - while it's not as well-written as Morrison books, the comparison is apt. The language is lyrical and hypnotic. There are some erotic scenes in the book, but they are important to the narrative - this is not what you might call erotica. Boof masterfully weaves what I would a
If I am unsure how to assess Kola Boofs intriguing, flawed novel The Sexy Part Of The Bible that is in part a reflection of the novels own lack of certainty. It is a political novel, feminism and especially racial/cultural issues are the core, enfolded in partial stories of other meanings. Indeed as I type I realise that partial in both its meanings is the key to Boofs book.
Politics aside, to begin with, as much as Boof allows, The Sexy Part Of The Bible is fragmentary in plot, subject and storytelling. The narrator, Eternity Frankenheimer, is a clone. Her parents are scientists at an HIV/AIDS clinic in the West African state of West Cassavaland. They are white, Eternity is black. Very black. Her colour is stressed and repeated and obsessed over throughout The Sexy Part Of The Bible, as is that of virtually every other non-white character, in a manner that sometimes distracts.
Eternity becomes a model, and becomes increasingly involved with Cassavan hip hop superstar Sea Horse Twee in a series of equally erotic and disturbing encounters.
Examining the plot further quickly reveals the most obvious flaws of this novel, its failure to take a fir
