Biography of Martin Garrix
Early Life and Passion for MusicMartijn Garritsen, known by his stage name Martin Garrix, was born on May 14, , in Amstelveen, Netherlands. He developed a passion for music at the young age of four when he started learning the guitar. By the age of eight, Garrix became interested in the DJ culture after witnessing Tiesto's performance at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Athens. Inspired by Tiesto's track "Traffic," Martin downloaded special software and began composing his own music. He recently graduated from the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht, a renowned producer school.

Under various aliases, Martin Garrix wrote tracks for other artists, but only one out of his fifty compositions gained public attention. He began exhibiting at the RA in and his first Punch cartoons were published in He served with the Royal Artillery in the First World war and was awarded the Military Cross at Ypres. At Punch, he was made Second Cartoonist in and Senior Cartoonist from In he provided the illustrations for A A Milne’s When We Were Very Young verses (published in Punch) and this in turn led to Shepard illustrating Milne’s Winnie the Pooh books.

Biography
Ernest Howard Shepard was born on December 1, in London to Henry and Jessie Shepard. Ernest’s father, Henry, was an architect from a highly respected family, and his mother was the daughter of distinguished watercolorist, William Lee. Creativity being prominent on both sides of Ernest’s family, it was unsurprising that his father wanted him to become an artist. Though his early years of childhood were happy, his life changed at ten years old when his mother died. He and his two siblings moved in with their aunts until Henry Shepard could save enough money to buy a house for them all in Hammersmith. Once settled in their new home, Ernest attended school at St. Paul’s where his uncle was headmaster. It was clear to his teachers from a young age that Ernest would excel at art, so he was enrolled in an advanced drawing class. Like Gordon Browne, Ernest took additional art classes on Saturdays at Heatherley’s art school in London.
