Ambassador Nalin Surie has served over a long and distinguished career in the Indian Foreign Service from , holding a number of strategic, policy and advisory roles, including as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ambassador to China and Poland. More recently, he has also led the Indian Council of World Affairs, as the Director General from , bringing together his extensive experience in economic, geo-political and defence/security issues with a research-led focus.
Having trained as an economist and completed his Masters from the Delhi School of Economics in , Nalin Surie joined the Indian Foreign Service in July
