Hanq neal biography

GOSPELflava has been informed of the passing of Minister Henry Hanq Neal as a result of complications after suffering a massive heart attack earlier during the week.  Neal is a recognizable fixture in Gospel music circles having performed with, the Pentecostal Ambassadors,  Donald Vails&#; Choraleers and more notably with the late Rev. James Cleveland and the Gospel Music Workshop of America.

An accomplished singer, songwriter, choir director and musician, Neal relocated to Houston, Texas in to serve at a small Windsor Village United Methodist Church under Reverend KirbyJohn Caldwell.  At the time, the choir began with a modest 25 voices.  Under Neal&#;s tenure, the choir grew from one to five choirs with over active participants.  Neal was serving in music ministry at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston at the time of his passing.

Photography by Vicky Pink - On Saturday, March 8, , Houston Style Magazine was on hand at the Greater Grace Outreach Church for celebration of life service for Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church’s Minister of Music Henry “Hanq” Neal. More than just a local musician, the Grammy nominated artist was a musical genius. Many gathered to pay their respects to Hanq Neal and help the family of Neal struggling with his loss. Some in attendance were Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Congressman Al Green, Leon Lewis, Rev. Remus Wright, Dr. Rod Paige, State Rep. Rodney Ellis, State Rep. Borris Miles, Houston City Councilman Dwight Boykins, V. Michael McKay, Rev. William A. Lawson, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, Melanie Lawson, Rev. Terry Mackey, the clergy of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, Rev. Marcus D. Cosby and family.
